So here we are...........

rawk on...i'm blogging or maybe it's logging it may be a 'soft' b. I'm doing this, I'll admit, partly for a class here @ SCAD and well partly for me(that's right mutherf**kers!) So yes... Personal Vision II PHOT-402-02 bring it on! So I will say this...I apologize in advance if I bore some of you with this photography stuff but for now that's going to be the (fiber?) bulk of this blog(for now). In the future there will be other things I'm sure. Ok so here we go...entry #1 It's been 3 going on 4 years since I've picked up a camera and done any sort of art or picture making. The real world bogged me down for awhile and although I told myself I'd never stop creating photos - I did indeed stop. i suck. At first I will admit i was merely taking this class to beef up my portfolio for visual effects. I originally had planned to go all digital/photoshop/all high tech and geeked out. But as much as I love the digital world and more specifically the digital world of manipulation, I found myself cold, alone and sweating at the thought of going forward with my original ideas. I told my professor I didn't want to go back to my old ways of landscapes, night stuff and painting with light...i was gung ho for the cold crisp world of digital. Then I began thinking....my work involves the search for purity the search for truth and documenting and finding that line where man meets nature and nature meets science. There was a guy in my class (Greg?Craig?) and I was floored by his work...he too does the night photography like I do. He mentioned an artist by the name of Todd Hido during his presentation. So I began thinking, researching and studying....I stumbled onto another artist by the name of Clemintine Roy and was also floored by her work. In short I said f**k it to the digital stuff lets go forward with something else. The search has begun again. Tomorrow(assuming my supplies from B&H show up accordingly) I'm into the wild world of night to see what I can dig up. I have an idea set in mind but I'm not going to go into that quite yet...I'm going to wait and see how things go and how I feel after my first shoot. What I will say is this. I'm going for more open spaces this time around. Fancy locations, dark allies, old abandoned houses are far to cliche so I plan to avoid them. I'm interested in the space that has yet to be occupied. I should stop there and I will...again we'll see what happens after tomorrow! -xo.xo.shux

Sweet! I dabble in photography as well. Only had one class (so far, going to take the second in the spring) for B&W film photography. But mostly I do digital. You might be interested in www.opacity.us which is a site run by this guy who calls himself Motts. It's really cool pictures of abandoned asylums and stuff. Really beautiful. But old asylums always facinated me. Of course, it's digital, so you might not be so down for that, but I figure I might show you becuase art is art, no? ANYWAY! Welcome to B4M hope to see you around. :D
